System software 7.0 does not offer a method of users zapping their parameter ram when they have problems or just want to for the fun of it. Previous versions allowed this with the ﾔSHIFT+OPTION+COMMAND + open Control Panelﾕ. zapParam was written for those of you who want to wipe out your parameter ram while running under system 7. zapParam is a control panel and, of course, is runnable from anywhere on your hard disk just by double-clicking on it. zapParam will not run under 6.0 or earlier. It runs but gives a friendly notice that it won't zap param and gives instructions on how to do it under 6.0 systems. The reason? To remain compatible. No, the truth is system 6.0 uses a way of wiping out parameter ram that we couldn't get to work under 7.0 and visa-versa. So, we're 7.0 studly but 6.0 whimpy.
